5 Ways to Download Your Aadhar Card Online

Aadhar card has become the mandatory document which everyone should have. Couple of years ago the Supreme Court (SC) declared Aadhar card a constitutionally valid document. You have got your Aadhar card which had your previous address, but now you have sent the request to update the same. There are chances that you may need an Aadhaar card before you receive the updated one. No worries, here are 5 ways using which you can download your Aadhaar card.

What is E-Aadhaar?

E-Aadhar is an electronic copy of Aadhaar card which is password protected which is digitally signed by UIDAI. It contains all the necessary information like your biometric data, demographic details, Aadhaar number, photograph, and general information including name, date of birth, and sex.

1.Download by Using Your Aadhaar Number

Perform the following steps if you have your Aadhar number with you:-

  1. Log on to https://uidai.gov.in/  official website page of Aadhar
  2. Click on the ‘My Aadhar’ tab and then click on ‘Download Aadhaar’ option
  3. You can also directly go to ‘Download Aadhaar’ option by visiting https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
  4. Here, select the ‘Aadhaar Number’ option and enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number. Incase you don’t want to show full digits of Aadhaar number, select the ‘I want a masked Aadhaar” option
  5. When you receive Captcha Verification Code, enter it and click on ‘Send OTP‘
  6. Enter the OTP (One Time Password) which you received on your registered mobile number
  7. Now ‘Take a Quick survey‘ questions on the same webpage and click ‘Verify And Download’ to download the e-Aadhaar card.
  8. Your e-Aadhaar copy will be downloaded in a PDF format but to access it you need a password as it is a password-protected document.

2. Download by Using Enrolment Number (EID)

  1. Log on to https://uidai.gov.in/  official website page of Aadhar
  2. Click on the ‘My Aadhar’ tab and then click on ‘Download Aadhaar’ option
  3. You can also directly go to ‘Download Aadhaar’ option by visiting https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
  4. Select the ‘Enrolment ID (EID)’ option.
  5. Here enter your 14-digit enrolment ID number which will be present in your acknowledgement slip and 14-digit time and date values in the space provided.
  6. When you receive Captcha Verification Code, enter it and click on ‘Send OTP‘
  7. Enter the OTP (One Time Password) which you received on your registered mobile number
  8. Now ‘Take a Quick survey‘ questions on the same webpage and click ‘Verify And Download’ to download the e-Aadhaar card.
  9. Your e-Aadhaar copy will be downloaded in a PDF format but to access it you need a password as it is a password-protected document.

3. Download by Using a Virtual ID (VID)

Virtual ID is the latest edition which enables downloading Aadhaar card through the Virtual ID VID is a temporary 16-digit number, it can be used in lieu of your Aadhar Card number wherever required.

  1. Log on to https://uidai.gov.in/  official website page of Aadhar
  2. Click on the ‘My Aadhar’ tab and then click on ‘Download Aadhaar’ option
  3. You can also directly go to ‘Download Aadhaar’ option by visiting https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
  4. Select the ‘Virtual ID (VID)’ option.
  5. Enter your 16-digit virtual ID (VID), your full name, pin code, and the security code in the space provided.
  6. When you receive Captcha Verification Code, enter it and click on ‘Send OTP‘
  7. Enter the OTP (One Time Password) which you received on your registered mobile number
  8. Now ‘Take a Quick survey‘ questions on the same webpage and click ‘Verify And Download’ to download the e-Aadhaar card.
  9. Your e-Aadhaar copy will be downloaded in a PDF format but to access it you need a password as it is a password-protected document.

4. Download by Using a DigiLocker Account

A cloud-based platform, DigiLocker has collaborated with UIDAI to make Aadhaar card available to people cardholders on linking the DigiLocker account with Aadhaar. DigiLocker enables the registered organization to provide electronic copies into digital lockers allotted to the citizens of India.

  1. Log on to the official website of DigiLocker at https://digilocker.gov.in/
  2. Click on ‘Sign In‘ button
  3. Here enter 12-digit Aadhaar number to login into DigiLocker account
  4.  Click on ‘Verify’  and then you will get an OTP on your registered mobile number.
  5. Enter the OTP and click ‘Verify OTP’
  6. A page ‘Issued Document’ page will open from where you can download e-Aadhaar using the ‘Save’ icon

5. Download by Using DigiLocker Account – Umang App

  1. Download Umang App (only Android users)
  2. Open the Umang App
  3. Click ‘Aadhaar Card’ under ‘all services tab‘.
  4. Select ‘View Aadhaar Card From DigiLocker‘
  5. Login with your DigiLocker Account
  6. Enter the OTP received and click on ‘Verify OTP‘.
  7. Now you can download your e-Aadhaar by clicking on the download icon
